Suspect Arrested in Early Morning Stabbing Death in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - 38-year-old Aung Kyaw Thu is in jail, preliminarily charged with Aggravated Battery in an early morning stabbing.
A 911 call just before 2:00am Wednesday indicated there was trouble on Bunt Drive. A Burmese translation line indicated a disturbance and possible stabbing.
Officer arrived on scene in the 6000 block of Bunt Drive to find an unidentified male suffering from apparent stab wounds. Medics pronounced him dead on scene.
Fort Wayne Investigators worked with Burmese translators and arrested Aung Kyaw Thu at the scene. He was taken to the police station, charged preliminarily with Aggravated Battery and then taken to jail.
Officers say there was some kind of disturbance between the victim and Thu when the stabbing took place.
The Allen County Coroner will conduct an autopsy today to determine the cause and manner of death....as well as identity.
The stabbing remains under investigation.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - 46-year-old Nyunt Shwe made his first appearance in felony court Wednesday with an official translator provided by the courts.
He's charged with aggravated battery and battery with a deadly weapon, in connection with the stabbing death of 43-year-old Aung Win at the Brendonwood Park Apartments on Fayette Drive on April 8th.

One of the three men grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed one of the others.
And that in turn may have led to his beating death.
A man found dead Friday in an apartment in the 1200 block of Fayette Drive has been identified, an arrest in his death has been made and newly released Allen Superior Court documents paint a picture of what might have happened to 43-year-old Aung Win.
Fort Wayne police were called about 4 p.m. Friday to Brentwood Apartments, where they found Aung Win with a bloody and swollen face. The Allen County coroner ruled Aung Win’s death a homicide but has yet to release a cause.
Police also found two other men who were drinking with Aung Win throughout Thursday evening, according to court documents.
One of the men, 46-year-old Nyunt Shwe, has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery in connection to Aung Win’s death.
In court documents, Nyunt Shwe admitted he beat Aung Win with a wooden kitchen pestle – typically used to grind up spices – but said he did so because Aung Win stabbed his friend.
The events leading to Aung Win’s death began about 6 p.m. Thursday, when Aung Win went to Nyunt Shwe’s apartment, which he shared with another man.
Nyunt Shwe, his roommate and Aung Win then began to drink. Nyunt Shwe said Aung Win had already been drinking before his arrival, according to court documents.
At some point, an argument ensued.
Aung Win allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Nyunt Shwe’s roommate in the upper back, just below the shoulder, according to court documents. Nyunt Shwe and his roommate then wrestled the knife away from Aung Win.
Nyunt Shwe gave his roommate some ibuprofen, and his roommate went to bed, leaving Nyunt Shwe and Aung Win in the living room, documents said.
Nyunt Shwe told police that Aung Win left the apartment about 8 p.m., according to court documents. Aung Win then returned about 10 p.m., Nyunt Shwe told investigators.
That’s when Nyunt Shwe punched Aung Win in the face. He told police he then grabbed the kitchen pestle and struck him in the head several times, according to court documents.
He said he was angry about the stabbing earlier and that he did not intend to kill Aung Win.
Nyunt Shwe’s roommate also told police he witnessed the beating, saying that Nyunt Shwe hit Aung Win three times in the head and that Aung Win did not move afterward.
Human hair and red stains were on the kitchen pestle when police found it at the scene, according to court documents.
The next day, a neighbor came to the apartment about 11 a.m. looking to drink, according to court documents. The men tried to wake Aung Win, but he was dead, the court documents said.
Before he reportedly admitted to the beating, Nyunt Shwe told investigators that Aung Win may have died from too much alcohol.
Nyunt Shwe is being held in Allen County Jail on $10,000 bond.

The Allen County coroner has identified the victim of a homicide Friday in Fort Wayne. Aung Win, 43, was found just after 4 p.m. Friday at Brendonwood Park Apartments, in the 1200 block of Fayette Drive, according to a written statement from Dr. E. Jon Brandenberger. His neighbor, Nyunt Shwe, 46, was arrested early Saturday in connection with the death. He was charged with aggravated battery. The cause of death is pending, the coroner’s statement said. The death was ruled the county’s seventh homicide of 2011 by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. A number of Burmese and Laotian-speaking residents live at the apartment complex. Matt Kenchanh, who was visiting his nephew and friends who live in Brendonwood Park on Friday, said the man who died was in the apartment Thursday night with two people who were questioned by police. The slain man lived in an apartment in the 1100 block of Fayette Drive, Kenchanh said. Nyunt Shwe was being held on $10,000 bail, according to an earlier story.

Dominic Adams The Allen County Coroner's office said Saturday that the death of a man found at an apartment complex in southeast Fort Wayne Friday afternoon will be ruled a homicide. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the man's death, authorities said in a statement Saturday. A Burmese man was found dead inside an apartment in the 1200 block of Fayette Drive at the Brendonwood Park Apartments. Police responded to the report of a death about 4:15 p.m. Friday. The death is the city's seventh homicide this year, according to a statement from the coroner's office. An autopsy Saturday showed the man suffered obvious trauma, but the cause of death is pending, the statement said. Officials said they were not releasing the man's identity, pending positive identification. Fort Wayne police said they were questioning two people identified as "persons of interest" Friday. Police said a language barrier was challenging the investigation. The apartment complex includes many residents who are Burmese and Laotian-speaking residents.

က်ည္ဆံထိမွန္ခဲ့သူဟာ မိတၳီလာေထာင္က အက်ဥ္းသား ေမာင္ထြန္း ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ မိုးလင္းေတာ့ ဒဏ္ရာရရွိလာတာကို ထုိင္းႏိုင္ငံသား ေတာင္ယာသမားေတြ ေတြ႔ရွိၿပီး မဲေဆာက္ေဆး႐ံုးကို ပို႔ေပးခဲ့တာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ သူ႔ကို ေဆး႐ံု မွာ ေစာင့္ဘို႔အတြက္ ကိုသက္ႏုိင္ ဆိုသူလည္း ပါလာခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ကိုသက္ႏုိင္ ကိုလည္း အက်ဥ္းသား ေပၚတာအျဖစ္ မိတၳီလာေထာင္က ေခၚလာတာပဲ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

ဆက္ၿပီးေတာ့ ကိုေမာင္ထြန္းက သူမွာ ေထာင္ထဲမဝင္ခင္က အိမ္ေထာင္ရွိတဲ့အေၾကာင္း မသကၤာမႈနဲ႔ ေထာင္က်ခဲ့တယ္ ၿပီးေတာ့ ေနေစ့လေစ့ ကိုယ္ဝန္နဲ႔ မိန္းမလည္း ရွိေနေသးတဲ့အေၾကာင္းနဲ႔ ေရွ႕တန္းကို အပို႔ မခံရေရးအတြက္ ေထာင္မွဴးကို ေငြတသိန္းေပးခဲ့ရၿပီး ခုလို အက်ဥ္းသားေပၚတာအျဖစ္ စစ္မ်က္ႏွာကို အပို႔ ခံခဲ့ရပံုေတြကိုလည္း တဆက္တည္းေျပာျပသြားပါတယ္။

“က်ေနာ္တို႔ကို ထမ္းစရာမွန္သမွ်အကုန္ေပးထမ္းတယ္။ ရဲေဘာ္ေတြက ေသနတ္နဲ႔ ကီေကြးမင္းေလာက္ပဲ ပါတယ္ က်န္တာ က်ေနာ္တို႔ အကုန္ထမ္းရတယ္။ လက္နက္ႀကီး ဗံုးသီးေတြဆိုလည္း ၁၅ လံုးထိ ေပးထမ္း တယ္။ မထမ္းႏုိင္ရင္လည္း ႐ုိက္ေသးတယ္ေလ။ မေန႔ညကေတာ့ က်ေနာ္တို႔ ၁၀ ေယာက္ ၁၅ ေယာက္ ေလာက္ရွိမယ္ ေရထဲခုန္ခ်ၿပီး ထြက္ေျပးတယ္ က်ေနာ္က ထိုင္းဘက္ကမ္းေပၚအတက္မွာ ထိတာ။ ထိထိခ်င္ ပဲ က်ေနာ္ ေရထဲ ျပန္က်သြားတယ္။ က်ေနာ္နဲ႔ ခု အတူပါလာတဲ့ ကိုသက္ခုိင္ လာဆြဲေခၚရတယ္ က်ေနာ္တို႔ လည္း ကုန္းေပၚေရာက္တာနဲ႔ ဦးတည္ရာကိုေျပးၾကတာပဲ ဘယ္သြားလို႔ ဘယ္လာရမွန္းမွ မသိတာ။ ေတြ႔တဲ့ ကုန္းျမင့္ျမင့္ေတြေပၚ တက္ေျပးပုန္းၾကတယ္ေလ။ ျပန္မိသြားလည္းစိုးေသးတယ္။ က်ေနာ္တို႔ မ်က္စိေရွ႕မွာ ထြက္ေျး လိို႔ ျပန္မိသြားတဲ့ ေပၚတာေတြကို ႏွိပ္စက္တာ အခုလာတဲ့ စစ္ေၾကာင္းမွာ ၾကံဳခဲ့ရတယ္ ဝါးရင္း တုတ္ေတြ ဖြာထြက္ေအာင္ကို ႐ိုက္တာဗ်ာ ထြက္ေျပးရမလားဆိုၿပီး။ အဲဒါေတြျမင္ထားေတာ့ က်ေနာ္တို႔ လည္း ေၾကာက္လန္႔တၾကား ေျပးမိေျပးရာေျပးမိၾကတာေပါ့။ မနက္လင္းေတာ့ ထုိင္းေတာင္ယာသမားတ ေယာက္နဲ႔ေတြ႔တယ္ သူက ပါလာတဲ ထမင္းကို ဒဏ္ရာရေနတဲ့ က်ေနာ့္ကိုေကၽြးတယ္။ ၿပီးေတာ့ ဒီေဆး႐ံု ႀကီးကို လုိက္ပို႔တာတယ္။ က်ေနာ္တို႔နဲ႔အတူေျပးတဲ့ အေဖၚေတြလည္း ဘယ္ေတြ ေရာက္ကုန္တယ္မသိ ေတာ့ပါဘူး ေျပးတာကလည္း ညဘက္ႀကီးေလ” လို႔ ကိုေမာင္ထြန္း က ေျပာျပပါတယ္။

Karen rebels hold Thai man hostage

TAK : The Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) has taken a Thai man hostage in Burma territory and is demanding a 300,000 baht ransom, police say.
The man, identified as only Kriangsak, was being held opposite Tak's Umphang district, they said. Mr Kriangsak is a resident of Taperpoo village in tambon Mokro of Umphang district.
The police said yesterday Mr Kriangsak crossed the border into Burma to negotiate a financial matter with a group from the DKBA. However, he failed to reach an agreement and the DKBA took him hostage and demanded 300,000 baht in cash in exchange for his freedom.
The DKBA claimed Mr Kriangsak owed them this amount.
Tak governor Samat Loifa has assigned Umphang district chief Chawengsak Jaikham to contact the DKBA about Mr Kriangsak's welfare. It has yet to respond.
Yesterday, a special task force of the 4th Infantry Division in Mae Sot district watched an armed confrontation between the DKBA and the Burmese military near Manao island opposite Mae Konken village in tambon Mahawan.
A number of K-81 grenades exploded in Thai territory, a special task force source said.
The source said Thai members of the Thai-Burmese Border Committee (TBC) sent a memo to their Burmese counterparts in Myawaddy asking them to seek assurances from the Burmese military that explosive projectiles were not fired into Thailand.
A group of Burmese soldiers has been surrounded by DKBA militants. The source said a lot of Burmese troops had been killed or injured.

အစားထိုးမႈမ်ားတြင္ ကရင္ဒုကၡသည္မ်ားသာမက ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံေရး အက်ဥ္းသားမ်ားႏွင့္ အက်ဥ္းသားေဟာင္း
မ်ား၏ နာမည္မ်ားကိုပါ အစားထိုးေဖာ္ျပသည္။ အခ်ိဳ ့ႏိုင္ငံေရး အက်ဥ္းသားမ်ားမွာ ထပ္မံ ေထာင္ဒဏ္အျပစ္
ျမန္မာ အက်ဥ္းေထာင္ထဲတြင္ ရွိေသာ္လည္း ၎တို ့၏ နာမည္မ်ားႏွင့္ အစားထိုးလူစားမ်ားမွာ အေမရိကန္ႏွင့္
ဥေရာပႏိုင္ငံမ်ားသို ့ ေရာက္ႏွင့္ေနၿပီး ျဖစ္သည္။
မိသားစု၀င္ ၆ဦး ၇ဦးထိ လူစားထိုးမႈမ်ားရွိသည္။ ထိုသို႕လူစားထိုးရာတြင္ ကာယကံရွင္မိသားစုမွာ တဦးလ်င္
ဘတ္ေငြ ၁ေသာင္း၅ေထာင္မွ ၂ေသာင္းထိသာရၾကျပီး UNHCR, IOM ၀န္ထမ္းမ်ားနွင့္ ဒုကၡသည္စခန္း တာ၀န္
ရွိသူတို႕ခြဲေ၀ယူၾကသည္။ UNHCR မွ၀န္ထမ္း ေအာင္ေက်ာ္ဦးမွာ ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံ ရန္ကုန္ျမိဳ႕ရွိ တရုပ္သူေဌးမ်ား၏
မသိသူမရွိ ျဖစ္ သည္။
ျမန္ျပည္ရွိ သူေဌးမ်ားသည္ အေမရိကန္ ျပည္၀င္ခြင့္ရရန္ခက္ခဲေသာေၾကာင့္ ဒုကၡသည္ေယာင္ေဆာင္ျပီ အေမ
ရိကန္သို႕ထြက္ခြာသြားၾကသည္မွာ ေထာင္ႏွင္ခ်ီရွိေနျပီျဖစ္သည္။ ထိုသူမ်ားမွာ ဒုကၡသည္စခန္းတြင္ တညကို မ
အိပ္ဘူးသူမ်ားျဖစ္ၾကသည္။ လုပ္ငန္းစဥ္အဆင့္ဆင့္စစ္ေဆး မႈမ်ားတြင္ ရန္ကုန္မွေလယာဥ္ျဖင့္မနက္ထြက္လာ
ဘန္ေကာက္မွေန မဲေဆာက္သို႕ ညကားစီး၊ ထိုမွတဆင့္ ဒုကၡသည္စခန္းတြင္ သြားေရာက္အစစ္ေဆးခံျပီး ည
ေနတြင္ဘန္ေကာက္သို႕ျပန္ ျပီးျမန္မာျပည္သို႕ ေလယာဥ္ျဖင့္ျပန္ၾကေၾကာင္းသိရသည္။ အခ်ိဳ႕မွာေနာက္ဆံုးထိုင္း
ႏိုင္ငံမွ ထြက္ခြာမည့္ရက္တြင္ IOM အကူအညီျဖင့္ ဘန္ေကာက္ေလဆိပ္မွေစာင့္ဆိုင္းျပီးအေမရိကား သို႕ထြက္
ခြာၾကသည္။
ေနာက္တမ်ိဳးလူစားထိုးျခင္းမွာ ကာယခံရွင္မွာ ေငြေၾကးတျပားတခ်ပ္မွ မရဘဲ စခန္းအာဏာပိုင္နွင့္ UNHCR ,
IOM ၀န္ထမ္းမ်ား ပူးေပါင္း လုပ္ေဆာင္ၾကျခင္းျဖစ္သည္။ ဒုကၡသည္စခန္းေနထိုင္ေသာ ဒုကၡသည္မိသားစုမွာ
TBBC ေထာက္ပံ့ေသာ ရိကၡာမေလာက္ငွေသာေၾကာင့္ အျပင္သို႕လနဲ႕ခ်ိီျပီး အလုပ္ထြက္လုပ္ေနၾကသူမ်ားျဖစ္
ၾကသည္။ ထိုအခ်က္ကို အခြင့္ေကာင္းယူျပီး လူးစားထိုးၾကျခင္းျဖစ္သည္။ တႏွစ္ေစာင့္ အေမရိကန္က မေခၚ၊
၂ႏွစ္ ေစာင့္မေခၚလို႕ အေမရိကန္သံရံုးကခိုင္းေစထားေသာ OPE(Oversea Processing Entity) (IRC) ရံုးကို

ရြက္ရန္အတြက္ဆႏၵျပရျခင္းျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း၊မိမိကိုႏိုင္ငံတကာတရားသို႕ပို႕ေဆာင္ေပးရန္ ေတာင္းဆိုခဲ့သည္။
ကုလသမဂၢကသာေဆာင္ရြက္ႏိုင္ေၾကာင္းႏွင့္ သြားလိုသည့္ေနရာကို အေရးမယူဘဲလိုက္ပို႕ေပးမည္ဟု ဂတိေပး
ညွိႏိုင္းေျဖရွင္းခဲ့သည္။ ဆႏၵျပကရင္ရဲေဘာ္ကို DKBA ရွိရာေနရာသို႕သြားလိုသလားဟုလည္း ေမးျမန္းခဲ့သည္။

1. (S) Summary: Embassy contacts XXXXXXXXXXXX shared with us on XXXXXXXXXXXX documents for 112 metric tons of "mixed ore" shipped on January 25 from Burma to China via Singapore. XXXXXXXXXXXX noticed that authorities treated the shipment as highly sensitive, and suspect it may have included uranium. Our contact had no direct evidence to support this claim. End summary.
2. (S) XXXXXXXXXXXX, told emboffs that XXXXXXXXXXXX informed him they were suspicious about the behavior of authorities when handling a January 25 shipment of mixed ore from Rangoon. According XXXXXXXXXXXX, security was tighter than usual, surveillance was heavier, and officials paid closer attention to the movement of the shipment and activity at the port. XXXXXXXXXXXX also claimed that metals are usually exported in blocks, whereas the bags in this shipment were filled with loose earth and mud. The source of the mixed ore, Maw Chi, is also a source for uranium, they claimed. XXXXXXXXXXXX said the destination in China, Fang Chen, and the shipping line, Advance Container Lines, were unusual for routine ore shipments. Shipments normally go to other ports in China via Myanmar Five Star Line, the government-owned shipping line, according to them. The shipper, Myanmar Ruby Enterprise, is a joint venture, 30% owned by the Ministry of Mines. XXXXXXXXXXXX
